Duncan Leaves, Steele Falls - News and a Poll
Duncan drops out because of clinical depression? Never judge another man's medical condition, and I hope that he does well, but I also hope that he is not dropping out because of a fear that voters will reject him because of his illness. I'd like to think Marylanders are better than that. Perhaps the race would be harmful right now (although he has been County Exec), or perhaps there are other factors, such as money. In any event, he would have been a fine choice, in my view, and best of luck to him in his recovery.
O'Malley has other reasons to have his spirits up, besides losing a primary challenger. Latest WSJ/Zogby Poll has him beating Ehrlich 53.1% to 39.2%, a 13.1% spread and his largest lead ever in this Poll. Note that Duncan would have beaten Ehrlich 52.8% to 38.9%, an even bigger 13.9% spread.
And Zogby has everybody beating Steele:
