The Politics of Style...
Following yesterday’s Style section love song for Ike, the Post runs another today for Howie. Featuring favored candidates in Style seems to be, well, in vouge at the Post.
I like the contrast between Ike and Howie: Ike, the well polished law professor and Howie, the hard working, (dare I say “dowdy”) grassroots pol. What amazes me is that if Howie were a democrat, he’d be sailing towards re-election with over 70% of the vote. Sadly, despite Howie's work ethic, he remains vulnerable to fluctuations in democratic antipathy towards the white house.
The question remains weather democrat anger at bush co. will be taken out on a county councilman who actually represents their interests and is endorsed by close democratic party allies like the AFL-CIO, Teachers, and Progressive Maryland. I guess we'll find out in 8 days...
