Anyone else notice that President Bush mentioned "Baltimore, Maryland" and one of our greatest political families in the second line of the State of the Union?

As if that wasn't recognition enough, a few minutes later, our new Gov. Martin O'Malley showed up on the screen. He got quite a bit of facetime for someone with little connection to the federal government.

As much as I dislike Bush, he did a nice tribute to Pelosi there at the kickoff of the SOTU.

On the topic of sleeping, McCain was sawing logs for part of the speech, too. It must have been even worse in person.

No one was asleep. Not John McCain, not O'Malley, not Kennedy. They were reading along with the speech. This is very common during the SOTU.

Wow, some of those guys (McCain in particular) were REALLY studying the SOTU text. I can understand keeping their chins on their chests (better to read the text), but why did they close their eyes? To deeply contemplate the content of the speech?
