And... They're Off!

from The League: Reassembled

Well, its almost official. I just got off the phone with an O'Malley aide who indicated beyond the shadow of a doubt that our Mayor wants to become our next Governor.

O'Malley wil travel down to PG County for a few events in the morning and early afternoon tomorrow before making the Big Announcement at 5:30 in Patterson Park.

Unfortunately, O'Malley's rival in the Democratic primary, MoCo Exec Duncan, set the tone of the campaign by scolding the mayor for focusing on his political ambitions at the expense of a city suffering from crime and decay, according to a report this morning on WYPR. And don't expect O'Malley to take the high road.

I understand that each candidate needs to prove that he will be the better governor (and better Ehrlich challenger), but I really don't look forward to a year of bickering between the two. Its almost a futile request, but we at The League urge the candidates to focus on Ehrlich's handling of the state and their respective plans for how they can do better, not why their Democratic opponent is incompetent.
