Maryland Voting Machines

The Maryland House of Delegates today approved a measure to study the use of voting machines in Maryland. The measure, HB 479, will set up a commission to study whether paper receipts should be required for Maryland voting machines. This resolution does not settle any of the issues related to electronic voting here in Maryland.

Speaking editorially, this is unfortunate. The integrity of voting is vital to the process and the addition of some sort of paper trail to the process should be both simple and essential. The question, however, remains open.
